The Chinese Medicine of Yin Style Bagua is divided into ‘physical’ medicine and herbal medicine. Its hand skills for bodywork and acupuncture made it famous during the last years of the Imperial court through the Cultural Revolution, by which all its practitioners but Dr. Xie had passed away. It reflects not only the medicine passed on by Dong Haichuan, but also that of several Imperial Doctors and famous practitioners with whom he and his students exchanged knowledge with.

While ATS focused on recording Dr. Xie’s Chinese medicine knowledge in his last years, much of the video footage was archival in nature, and most was directly passed onto Andrew Nugent-Head while treating patients. Video material featuring Dr. Xie himself available to date is:

•The Eight Storing Qi & Developing Sensitivity Exercises (1 DVD), which build the Qi Yin Style Bagua medical treatments are so famous for. This video was designed as a practice along with Dr. Xie for participants of his teaching workshops;

•The Energy-Bodywork 24 Basic Hand Techniques (10 DVDs), in which Dr. Xie lays out the foundation of the Yin Style Bagua bodywork. The 10 Disc Set is incredibly detailed in both technique, strategy, and application presented within the context of Chinese medical theory.

•The Healing Without Medicines Lecture (1 DVD), in which Dr. Xie lays out the foundation of self healing from its earliest origins to the powerful practices of Chinese Medicine.

Yin Style Bagua is system of personal cultivation that can be divided into two major categories: martial arts and health. The healing practices of YSB include the practice of Chinese medicine to heal others and the practice of internal cultivation (Daoyin, often referred to as Qigong today) to heal oneself of illness and maintain vitality into old age.

The self healing side of Yin Style Bagua contains 3 major practices which were the first areas of Yin Style Bagua ATS documented. They were drawn from Daoist and Buddhist roots and then interwoven within the Book of Changes understanding of the universe and of the human as its reflection. In the Healing Without Medicines Lecture filmed during Dr. Xie’s first visit to the United States. Dr. Xie lays out the foundation of self healing from its earliest origins to the powerful practices contained within Yin Style Bagua. It contains a broad amount of theory and information which is critical to those interested in internal cultivation/self healing, and Chinese medicine

Please note that the DVDs of the practices were designed as companions to the books of the same name that are currently out of print. ATS is working on rereleasing the books as a compendium, but does not have a date of publication available. The DVDs feature Dr. Xie practicing the exercises with minimal interruption and overdubbing. The DVDs are a fantastic window into the internal practices of the last person fully trained in the complete system of Yin Style Bagua.

In the last years of his life, Dr. Xie Peiqi went to great efforts to organize many of his writings on medicine, bodywork, and internal health practices into a cohesive 3 Volume set. His desire was to see this material in one compilation, complete with pictures of Dong Haichuan’s tomb and other historic documents. While the editor and printers introduced a few errors in terms of dates and names during publication, it is a must for those seriously attempting to learn the full breadth and depth of this system.

Volume 1:

•Chapters 1-4 contain theory and application of the Yin Style Bagua bodywork system. It is 50+ pages long.

•Chapter 7 contains the Shaking System. It is 6 pages long.

•Chapter 8 contains the 12 Guiding Energy Sitting Practices. It is available in English through our site.

•Chapter 9 contains treatment protocols from the Bodwork system.

•Final Chapter contains an essay on Qi.

Volume 2:

•Chapter 1 contains Chinese medical theory with sections pertaining to how that is mapped into Bagua. It is 40+ pages long.

•Chapter 2 contains Bagua diagnosis techniques. It is 20+ pages long.

•Chapter 3 contains treatment strategies using Squeezing and Grasping techniques at 8 locations on the body. It is 60+ pages long.

•Chapter 4 contains self massage treatment techniques. It is 30+ pages long.

•Chapter 5 contains a great deal of information on Bagua internal cultivation techniques, known as Dao Yin in Chinese. It is 50 pages long.

•Final chapter contains treatments for injuries sustained in fighting or traumatic accidents. This is 5 pages long.

Companion Volume:

This very small volume contains several photos dating from the Men Baozhen era of Yin Style Bagua, some of the rubbings from Dong Haichuan's original stele (very unclear), and a transcription of those steles. The compiler of the series also used this volume to add several of his own essays which are inaccurate in much of its content, including Dr. Xie's date of birth!
